History of URG AUSTRALASIA

URG Australasia was formed in July 2009 and was established in the Philippines in the year of 2014. The company incorporates its many business sectors, including transport, logistics, and the natural resource sector needs to cater to local and international clients.

The origins of URG come from its long and successful transport and logistics background as “Ubaida Transport Group” formed in 2004. The company continues to receive multiple inquiries from its clients and referrals for the sourcing of commodities from around the globe due to its outstanding customer service and strong supply chain.

URG Australasia is currently established URG-Asia NZ Limited with offices in Hong Kong and New Zealand. The company also has other subsidiaries such as HJM Logistics Corporation.

URG Australasia’s vision – is a partnership between the traditional owners of the land and those who are willing to invest in one of the most exciting ventures of the modern age. URG Australasia is the corporate entity behind this vision. They have headquarters in Melbourne, Australia and together with their founder Addnan Hassoun, decided to open a trading arm and group the company’s activities under one new powerful corporate entity known as URG Australasia in the Philippines.

URG Asia Corporation is a newly established subsidiary business of URG Australasia which is a duly recognized corporation under Philippine Law as of 2014. Its corporate headquarters is in the heart of Metropolitan Manila, and the business district of Greenhills, San Juan City.

The company is currently trading several industries and is aiming for more expansions in the future. The group continues to be resilient and aims to continue its rapid growth in keeping up with the demand for cement, minerals, aggregates, and other commodities (sand, river sand, marine sand, and armor rocks).

The company currently has several projects on river-dredging operations, deliveries of aggregates to major cities worldwide, and trading several shipments of cement every month.

Our local Company Director, Lloyd Lopez, being a native of Cebu and having had previous government posts has known the vast opportunities of the untapped mineral resources in the Philippines. URG Asia Corporation has several mining operations under his management such as:

URG ASIA CORP – CEMENT BUSINESS DIVISION

The remaining “free” market is still reasonably sizable as the global cement trade exceeds 100 million tons per year. Cement trade is a highly specialized profession that requires knowledge of the global market, technical knowledge of cement quality, and consistency of quality. Staying in the industry requires a strong knowledge of logistics, the economics of the combined trade, transportation, and terminals issues. The mining industry needs experience in the politics, trials, and tribulations that go with the business.

As construction of new cement plants is slow, a rapidly growing cement demand can exceed local production capacity and create a shortage as is the case in the Philippines. In such cases, imports are required. URG Asia has acquired 7 PS Marks for distribution nationwide around the Philippines. The company has a national distribution network that includes warehousing and island-to-island deliveries.

URG Asia specializes in packing and delivering cement, minerals, aggregates, and other commodities worldwide. The company houses imported brands from Vietnam, Thailand and Pakistan and operates in several strategic locations in major cities in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

Buffer go-downs have been established at strategic locations to ensure prompt delivery at the consumers’ doorstep through a dedicated network of Stockists, Sales Promoters, and Clearing & Forwarding Agents.

Marketing Setup

For providing an effective and customer responsive marketing facility, a Central Marketing Office has been set up at Area Offices. Depots have also been established in all major towns of the Philippines to efficiently serve dealers and end consumers. A professional and experienced marketing team has been placed at all operative areas equipped with fully computerized sales and accounting system to serve the most demanding needs of the customer Ordinary - Portland Cement (OPC)”

Packing and delivery

We deliver CIF by chartering vessels according to the needs of the clients.
Delivering cement by containers is also possible in case of necessity (e.g. ports congestion)
The cement is packed in 40 kg polypropylene or paper bags wrapped in 1, 5 to 2 tons sling bags.
We also do bulk cement vessels and bulk cement packed in 1, 5 to 2 tons big bags.

No limit in quantities

We are able to supply any large quantity of cement, on small or large vessels according to the facilities at the port of destination in the Philippines.

In 2004, the Ubaida Transport Group was formed in response to the demand of servicing the world’s leading Shipping Lines in their quest for efficient and reliable empty repositioning services. We began with 5 trucks and now in 2014 run a fleet of 30 trucks and other various specialized equipment such as side loaders and low loaders. The establishment of our Tottenham Facility will see MML go into its next stage of expansion creating world-class facilities in Melbourne’s Logistics Hub.

The services offered by MML and associated specialized companies, including custom brokerage companies and the ship’s agencies have the ability to charter and manage vessel charters and ensure that the client receives the maximum cargo usage within the contract agreements. This ensures the availability of the original bill of Lading and Statement of Facts for the customs and AQIS authorities on the vessel and cargo clearances. This also covers obtaining the EDN number online from Australian Customs and complying with all custom requirements.

We specialize in a wide range of wharf cartage services within Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane & Western Australia Container Transport Market. In the last quarter of 2016, we launched a fleet of trucks to service our cement vessels in Cebu. The fleet will continue the growth around the country as the company expands into warehousing and port leasing.
